Meet Jimmy Tate

A Life Built in Pender County

The Foundation
Raised on a tobacco farm in Willard, Jimmy Tate learned the values of faith, hard work, and personal responsibility at an early age. Those values still guide his public service.

Education
A three time graduate of UNC Wilmington, Jimmy chose to stay in North Carolina to learn, teach, and lead.

Public Service
From 2008 to 2016, Jimmy served on the Pender County Board of Commissioners, including two terms as Chairman, helping guide the county through the Great Recession while keeping finances stable and services reliable without raising taxes.

Professional Leadership
As President of Roanoke Chowan Community College and in other leadership roles, Jimmy managed large budgets, employees, and long term planning with a focus on accountability.

Still Serving Today
Through his work with the Mt. Calvary Center for Leadership Development, Jimmy continues serving families and community leaders across Pender County.
